Chair Tuesday: Dune

Another lot of modular furniture, this time by Austrian designer Rainer Mutsch.

The Dune range is made of six different connectible hollow pieces, all in beautiful flowing, organic shapes.

They are made by wrapping fibre cement sheets (a material most often used in roofing cladding) around moulds to create the strong yet hollow shapes.

I think they look quite nice, like they would be fun to sit on.  The scale of the pieces mean they would be best suited to public spaces like hotels or bars, and I can easily envisage groups of people lounging on these in a beer garden on a summer's afternoon.
