When I was younger I quite enjoyed a bit of origami and making cardboard models. There was something almost magical about making three dimensional objects out of 2D paper and card. This experience of making things has helped quite a bit when making card models for studio, but more interestingly the idea of folding is used in many clever designs to combat issues of space and materials usage. Some prime examples are the joseph joseph folding colander and chopping board shown above, but the concept has been used by lots of people for various applications to make some very beautiful creations.
