After 6 weeks of trying, we finally made it to the 17th Biennale of Sydney. I'd been well and truly dazzled by the fancy type treatments and Jonathan Barnbrook being responsible for the visual identity, to the point of wanting to stop and look at the advertisements on the regular. I don't know if I'm becoming ignorant or less cultured or (most likely) too much of a design wank, but I found the art to be a wee bit underwhelming - although Cockatoo Island did have a whole lot of pretty lighting, open spaces, secret passages and seagulls (as well as a giant banner) which made for a pleasantly visual day out.
