Las Vegas was one of those cities we visited for the first time because it was on the way and seemed like the thing to do. When we stopped in for one night in 2012 we stayed at the end of The Strip (opting for a lower priced hotel) to have a quick look around and then continue on our way. We've come back for a second attempt, and to see a bit more of 'old Vegas', and the fun parts we are more interested in.
We got totally lucky with our room view (sometimes I write very sugary/pleading requests in the comments section of reservation forms to get a nice view) so my requesting paid off! We can see into the pool of Paris, and out to the fountains of the Bellagio. It's pretty much perfect for non-partiers like ourselves who would much rather have a look from a distance!
We stopped in at Fremont Street early in the morning, to have a look at the original signage that's still in place on the now-pedestrian only street. It wasn't as fabulous as we'd hoped, but that's probably due to being 50 years too late to the Vegas party.
Gambling isn't something either of us usually partake in, but we thought we'd give it a shot, when in Sin City, right? With some early wins on the pokie machines after our $4 contribution, we were feeling successful... I even lined up three lucky 7's which should have been a big payout, but there was some catch which meant my turn wasn't eligible. Oh, the highs and lows!
Deciding to cut our losses, we drowned our sorrows in cupcakes from the Sprinkles ATM. You win some, you lose some!
