Bits from the Weekend | August 17 2013
The weather in Sydney this past weekend was off the charts insanely beautiful. I've often wondered what tourists think when they visit Sydney from overseas and what it must feel like (and all too often have thought they surely feel a little bit disappointed) but my goodness gracious, I finally got it, it clicked this weekend. It only took me 4 years of living in Sydney!
We're finally getting the hang of Saturdays, they still seem like such a novelty. I've been training my brain to switch off properly on the weekend and not even think about things that have to get done. I'm still in the training stage of this, and find myself list writing compulsively, planning for the following days. We've been making an effort to get out and do things though, which helps!
August is always a great month in the city, thanks to Sydney Design and the different events that are happening this time of year. We stopped in at Sydney In Design's Galleria for a look at some great industrial design beauties we'd never afford or have the space for. Joshua got to see a whole heap of chairs in one place though, which is about as much happiness you could ask for, for that fellow!
We then popped in to the city and to the State Library to check out Selling Dreams: One Hundred Years of Fashion Photography. I was happy to see the work of Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon and some contemporary pieces from Tim Walker in the flesh. It's hard to beat that building too!
