19 & 20 | Rome

Rome has turned on the charm the last couple of days of having us, and we've had such a nice time wandering through the alleys, eating pizza and pasta and gelato and cannoli (oh man, the cannoli!) and then repeating the process again. We've seen the sights and played out all of my Roman Holiday scene recreations I needed to get ticked off.

We had a delicious long lunch today, with €4.00 worth of house wine that saw us both a little tipsy at the end of the meal. It's easy to say 'when in Rome!' when the wine is tasty and cheap and goes with your perfect pasta so well!

We ate cannoli on the river (Nutella and Ricotta, my thighs will never be the same again, Italy!) and walked until our feet were blistered. Josh looked at my feet tonight and suggested I might need a pedicure when we get home. I'm not sure whether to be delighted or offended?

We've had such a lovely few days in Rome, it's moved up the ranks to be one of our favourite cities we've visited. We've marveled at its ancient ruins and buildings, been delighted at it's charming signs and typography, eaten all the best things it's had to offer, oohed and aahed at every old Fiat we saw and got lost in all it's old cobblestoned streets. It's been a treat!

We're leaving tomorrow for the long trip home. We'll see you on Wednesday, Australia!
